From: The thermal stability of Eyjafjallajökull ash versus turbine ingestion test sands

Results of thermogravimetry analysis (Pt crucibles were used at 10 K/min heating rate under argon atmosphere.) for the 90 < ϕ < 125 μm grainsize fraction. EYJA and MIL samples show a fairly similar behaviour whereas ATD shows a significant weight loss (4 wt.%) that can be attributed to decomposition reactions, most likely of H2O-bearing phases.
